We started off the week with some of the best scenes we’ve seen in a long time between “Scarecrow” and Liesl Obrecht, the breath of fresh air that is taking the stink out of most of the show. I love a truthteller on a soap, and there are so few of them out there who tell it like it is - besides Liesl, we have Auntie Stella, on Days of our Lives it’s Julie and Leo, on Y&R it’s Victor Newman, on B&B it’s Taylor, and on Beyond The Gates it’s Shanice. I’m loving this redemption arc they are giving Liesl and so it makes sense that she would not know that her Britta is alive and well and involved with something nefarious. But from there, the ground got shaky and by Wednesday, I was ho-humming my way through the show.
Things I loved this week:
-All things Danny and Rocco;
-All things Liesl;
-Britt being sassy and going “on strike”.
Things I didn’t love this week:
-NuNuLuLu and her repeating “caw-caw” of “Liesl Obrecht is bad - must keep Rocco away”;
-Laura basically just serving plot purposes as “the wise old owl” and then mediator between her daughter and former son-in-law, and Liesl. Laura deserves better than this;
-Isaiah “flirting” with Portia and Portia flirting back.
What else happened of note?
-Drew, arms and hands a-flailing, making the rounds to everyone announcing how he is going to get Willow’s kids back for her. No concern of actually getting Willow back to him.
-Alexis trying to tread carefully around Drew about Scout, and the fear that he will take her away to D.C.
-All those “insurance” scenes between Stella and NotTadMartin actually led up to something. Now Ewww… Drew is involved.
-Anna knows (for sure) Joss is an agent working with fellow agent Vaughn and is now torturing Jack with that news.
-Outback is quickly becoming a lead character. I wonder if Mabel will return with more complaints?
-I know you are probably sick of us praising Rory Gibson, but it’s like having a brand new character on the canvas, who has just energized everyone and everything. I’ve been wishing Michael would become a leading man for the last fifteen years, so let me enjoy my wish come true.
-One of our Snarkers pointed out on the page that it’s all Deception all the time and we never hear about the big company - ELQ. We think Ned is still running it, but we’re not sure.
Tell us in the comments, what floated your boat this week and what sunk your battleship.
I love how Obrecht and Jason interact.
I am so mad about Drew targeting Stella- I cannot wait to see how Marty reacts if he finds out (I assume Drew won’t even try to hide it from him and just say something about how ‘it had to be done’).
I also am mad about whatever they’re doing with Isaiah and Portia despite how much I do support Jordan and Curtis… I would have loved if Isaiah and Jordan were still together because that was great.
Hope to see many scenes at the Five Poppies this week and that people actually bump into each other.
Where is Scotty!
