Death Comes to Port Charles
Week of September 15-19 (includes SPOILERS from Friday's episode).
Every once in awhile Sonny does something that makes you proud: in this case, having Brick make it look like Drew paid off Judge Heran. He also is putting up $10,000 for the return of Outback.
Meanwhile, Annette and Frankie are enjoying their surfing and sex party in Australia. Does Jax know his daughter is back?
Elizabeth and Molly concluded that it made sense for Ric to go on a digital detox. Molly extolled Elizabeth’s virtues and thinks she would be good for Ric.
So now after prying Molly and Cody apart, Kristina wants to play matchmaker and get them together? Ugh.
Britt almost spilled the beans to Carly when Carly wasn’t questioning Jason’s loyalty to her. Britt also got back in to General Hospital as an Intake Supervisor in the Emergency Room. Thank goodness for that, because it was our one opportunity to see Terry out of her office and back on our screens. And between Carly and Liz, there will be enough catty scenes with Britt to go around.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Danny went to Drew to plead with him to see his little sister. Drew was an asshat full of rain, per usual. Then Danny overheard Liz on the phone saying Monica is gone and ran home to comfort Dad Jason.
NuNuLuLu ended up the week stopping to call in a truck crash. Little did she know, it was a familiar face.
Outback had a heck of a week. She was lost, but found herself at the Q stable where she helped herself to Cody’s sub.
However, there was no denying, the couple with the best chemistry on this show right now is Outback and Cody. In related news, if there isn’t already an app called “In Petstigate”, there should be.
We got some scenes with cutie-pie James, who was worried he was responsible for his mother’s coma. Cody distracted James by saying he can ride Comet sometime in the future.
Kai and Trina made their once a week appearance to basically recap what happened. The music many people heard while the shots were fired was Scout’s ring tone. Scout was calling her father at the time he was shot.
Laura showed up on Friday to get a recap from Anna and Dante. Can’t we do more with Genie Francis on this show?
MONICA’S DEATH:
The day the fans have been crying out for since the moment Leslie Charleson passed, for better or for worse, has come. Whether you were looking forward to it or dreading it, the writers waited to fit this into the show in a way that was meaningful and impactful. The story started on Thursday when Tracy asked Jason to tell Monica that Drew had been shot, and Jason went upstairs, only to discover Monica was gone.
They went through the procedure of calling 911 and having the paramedics arrive and waited for the sherriff. We all knew this was coming, and by showing the ordinariness of death, it was a gut punch.
Jason and Tracy were alone in the house, which gave them space to process… and breathe. Tracy told Jason a touching story of Monica going to care for him at the gatehouse when he was sick as an infant. Monica had previously wanted nothing to do with him and wouldn’t allow him in the house. Afterwards, Monica fell in love with the child. (A bit retconned, if memory serves, but okay, they made the clip fit to their version of the story.)
But let’s take a moment to acknowledge the always powerhouse performance of Jane Elliot, who is now the second longest running character on GH behind Laura. Also, Steve Burton has never been so good. I don’t know if it’s the writing, but having Jason getting in touch with his Quartermaine side (a side long dormant in service to Sonny), has made him one of the titans of this show. When those baby blues turned on the waterworks, I was devastated. It certainly is most meaningful in the soap opera world that both Steve and Jane had worked with Leslie Charleson the most (and the longest). Keep the tissues handy for next week.
P.S. - Tracy thinks Michael should get the house.
Danny rushed to his Dad’s side after he overheard the news of Monica’s death from Liz (who was on the phone with Jake) at the hospital.
Michael, Ned, Brook Lynn, and Lucas were also informed of the Quartermaine matriarch’s death.
THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO HMMMM…
1.) Britt was insistent that Dante was being rude to her for not acknowledging her being alive, but she herself didn’t acknowledge NuNuLuLu was out of her coma and back on her feet.
2.) Anna is almost always on the verge of tears. Why?
3.) Did Britt’s explanation satisfy you? If she died in a doctor’s arms (her mutter), wouldn’t the doctor know she didn’t die? Did I miss an explanation somewhere in there? Did she take a potion, like Juliet, to simulate the appearance of death?
4.) Does anyone like Dalton? He just seems cranky and ornery all the time.
5.) Britt referred to Rocco as Ben in front of Dante and NuNu, but then called him Rocco for the rest of the week.
6.) How secluded was Monica that everyone had to be called to the house to inform them of her death? And why was Ned referring to coming over? Did he, Olivia and Leo move out of the house?
REACTIONS: Nina went to town on Willow (finally!) - she should have done this months ago. I’m so tired of watching Nina be the punching bag; Carly was certainly “amused” by Britt’s appearance.
AND STILL WE HAVE THREATS: Carly says Michael, Wiley, and Amelia would be better off if Drew were dead; Brick said he’d take Drew out if he had the chance.
THINGS WE LEARNED THIS WEEK: Brennan has gotten nowhere with Collette; Marco found out his father is not above murder; Vaughn got promoted and will be coming back as an agent; Drew told Not Tad Martin about his blackmail of Portia; Brennan gave Joss and Vaughn 24 more hours for sport nookie before the relationship has to end; Dante ran eight miles; Donna gets a kick out of calling Gio her nephew; Charlotte no longer calls Valentin “Papa”. She refers to him as “Dad”; Gio is “really smart” according to Donna.
NEW DAY: Wednesday’s episode began a new day and it’s the first day of school for Wiley and Scout.
SUSPECT UPDATE: Anna thinks Drew bribed Heran to rule against Willow, so if Willow found out, she may have shot Drew.
GOOFS: Turner referred to Judge Eva Heran as “Eve Heran”; When Drew was shot, the shots were about 10-15 seconds apart. When Trina and Kai were “remembering”, the shots came two in a row.
SLAPS ADMINISTERED: Liesl slapped Britta.
RANDOM REALIZATION OF THE WEEK: Josh Swickard has been playing Harrison Chase since he was 25 years old. He’s now 33.
FLASHBACK: Britt dreams of better times with Liesl; Felicia flashes back to talking to Maxie in her coma; Chase remembers when he told Willow he talked to Judge Heran; Trina and Kai go over the events of the evening Drew was shot and we see flashbacks to that night; Tracy flashes back to a fight over Christmas decorations with Monica; Jason remembers when Monica was concerned about him after his accident; Tracy recounts the story of when Jason got sick and Monica went to the gatehouse to take care of him in a quick clip; Jason later remembers Tracy’s words while he is in the gatehouse.
THINGS AROUND TOWN: Drew rehired Not Tad Martin; personal relationships between agents in the WSB are strictly forbidden; Chase mouthed off to Turner when Anna was explaining the situation about Drew’s bribe so Anna was concerned about his personal involvement; Thanks to Ava, Willow found out that Nina was paying Ric to represent Willow in her custody case; Kai remembered the bat he left in the living room and his fingerprints are all over it; Mac was in charge of the Judge’s case but now it’s been handed over to Anna, with no explanation.
REACTIONS: I think we need to patent Michael’s glare.
WHAT’S GOING ON HERE?: Lucas was a bit suspicious when he caught Kristina and Ava together but they played it off like Kristina was thanking Ava for allowing Avery to go with her on an outing.
WHERE WERE YOU THE NIGHT DREW WAS SHOT?: AN EVER GROWING AND UPDATED LIST (UPDATES IN BOLD):

QUOTES OF THE WEEK:
“I am the monster you raised me to be!” - Britt to Liesl
*************************************************************************************************************
“It wouldn’t have happened if you had just told me!” - Willow to Nina after Nina says she threw her life away for a terrible man.
“Would that have made a difference? I used to believe it would but now I don’t because all anyone hears from you over and over again is ‘Drew is a good man.’ I mean, it gets nauseating! - Nina
*************************************************************************************************************
“You could find a freezer full of heads in his basement and you’d still go on about what a good man Drew is!” - Nina to Willow
*************************************************************************************************************
“I can’t wait to play cricket!” - Donna, when talking about the games they will play at their Bratwurst party.
“You mean croquet?” - Sonny to Donna
“Yeah, okay!” - Donna to Sonny
*************************************************************************************************************
“I’ve never known this place without her in it.” - Jason about Monica
“Of course you haven’t. It’s Monica’s house.” - Tracy
*************************************************************************************************************
“Stupidist stunt my brother ever pulled, bar none, was giving Monica this house. No community property. No joint ownership. It was Monica’s and Monica’s alone. And she never let anyone forget it.
“Especially you.” - Jason
“Especially me. And every time we clashed, she would hold it over my head like she was doing me a favor allowing me to live in my family’s home.” - Tracy
“Except it wasn’t your home, it was Monica’s.” - Jason
MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!: Doesn’t Ava know the Brad and Britt story? Why would Lucas recount it to her?; If it was Wiley and Scout’s first day of school, why wasn’t it Donna’s as well?; Ned mentioned he told Monica that Leo is doing well in school. But didn’t school just start today? Was Leo in summer school?
FASHION: I like how they dress Vaughn. It’s so refreshing from the usual male garb on this show.
NAME DROPPING: Brad Cooper; Judge Heran; Yuri.
THINGS I WAS GLAD ABOUT: Carly is not the first one to know things anymore; we got to see Ava’s apartment again and that liquor cabinet (me want!); Lucas has apparently switched to martinis but what was Ava drinking?
ROMANCE: Emma and Gio edged closer to a kiss, but stopped and went to look for Outback. When Outback was found, however, Gio went for it; Annette and Frankie continued to surf and have sex in Sydney. (Say that three times fast!)
FUN FACTS: Monica has a first day of school tradition with Scout and Wiley called a “Hug Swap”; the gatehouse that Michael and Willow were living in is the same gatehouse where Jason was living with Susan Moore and Scott Baldwin (then called a cottage).
LOOK WHO’S BACK: Your favorite bartender at The Brown Dog. He was last seen at the end of May when he spilled the beans to Nina about Michael and Sasha. James Burbage, who plays The Brown Dog bartender, is the direct descendant of the Elizabethan actor James Burbage, who is regarded as the father and inventor of stage theatre.

So what did you think of this past week (September 15-19, 2025)?
We want a Brad and Britt reunion!
Also, gotta love when the writers go for quirky bits like Sonny having the kids over for bratwurst and croquet (?!!)
“Annette and Frankie!” “Sport Nookie!” 🤣😂🤣
What a fabulous week! Jason and Tracy were fabulous! I’ve never liked Jason more!
